Hello — I’m the writer behind UK Travel Blog, and I’ve been exploring Britain (and occasionally escaping it) for as long as I can remember.
I started this site because I kept finding myself giving the same advice to friends, family, and colleagues: where to go for a weekend in North Wales, which Lake District walks are actually worth the hype, how to do a ski trip without remortgaging the house, and where to find a decent pub lunch that isn’t just microwaved slop in a basket.
Eventually it made sense to write it all down properly.
What You’ll Find Here
UK Travel Blog is mostly about Britain. I write honest, detailed destination guides, walking and activity recommendations, and practical travel planning advice for people who want to get out and explore without wading through SEO fluff and recycled press releases. If I haven’t been somewhere or done something, I won’t write about it as though I have.
The focus is on North Wales and Snowdonia (my home patch — I know it better than most), the Lake District, and the wider UK. I’m gradually working outward to cover more of England, Scotland, and beyond.
I also write about skiing. I’ve been going to the Alps most winters for years now and have strong opinions about where to go, how to do it affordably, and what the ski industry doesn’t always tell you. Those pieces sit in the Europe section alongside the occasional city break or long-weekend guide.
How This Site Works
UK Travel Blog is independently run. I don’t work for a tourism board, a hotel chain, or a travel company. The site is funded through affiliate partnerships — mainly Booking.com for accommodation and a handful of activity providers — which means if you click through to book something I’ve recommended, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This never influences what I write or recommend. I’d rather lose a commission than lose your trust.
I don’t accept paid reviews or publish content I haven’t written or approved myself. If something on this site reads like an honest opinion, that’s because it is one.
